Wailuku, HI
Wailuku is the county seat and a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, in the United States. In 2020, there were 17,697 people living there.
At the mouth of the Iao Valley, just west of Kahului, is where you'll find Wailuku. Wailuku was Maui's top tourist attraction in the early 20th century, but it has since been surpassed by the growth of resort communities like Kaanapali.
12,296 people, 4,535 households, and 3,015 families all called the CDP home as of the 2000 Census. There were 937.2 people per square kilometer (2,427.4 people/sq. mi.). At an average density of 943.6 per square mile (364.3/km2), there were 4,780 dwelling units. The CDP had a 42.08% Asian population, a 26.28% multiracial population, an 11.70% Pacific Islander population, an 8.16% White population, a 1.18% other population, a 0.36% Native American population, and a 0.24% African American population. 7.75% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino, regardless of race.
