HECO Lawsuit is a team of attorneys, advocates, epidemiologists, fire cause and origin experts, and medical experts seeking justice for those community members who suffered damage to their property, emotional well being while fleeing, and loss of loved ones in the Maui fires. Our team has aligned with Lahaina-born and longtime Maui resident Jan K. Apo and the firm of Apo, Reck, and Kasuchi, LLP. Joining Jan is trial attorney Mikal Watts, who has represented thousands of utility-caused wildfire survivors and victims across California, New Mexico, and Oregon. Mikal played a key role in crafting the $13.5 billion settlement for the approximately 70,000 victims and survivors of California wildfires in 2017 and 2018 started by the giant California utility, Pacific Gas & Electric.
